Have you heard about ‘Respitality’ and want to know more?
With over 100 partners across Scotland including The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Royal Yacht Britannia and Stay in St Andrews, Respitality is a growing network of tourism and hospitality businesses who are collectively helping offer carers a well deserved break from their daily routine.
Hosted by Shared Care Scotland this event will help you understand more about the ‘Respitality’ concept. Participating in the initiative not only gives you the opportunity to offer someone a well deserved tourism experience, but also offers you the opportunity to showcase your business to a potential new market.
Come along to hear more from Shared Care Scotland as they launch the ‘Respitality’ initiative in Edinburgh and the Lothian’s.
Respitality in a Nutshell.
Respitality is new and effective way the hospitality sector can help their local communities by recognising and appreciating the contribution of unpaid carers.
The idea is that hotels, guest house, B&B, restaurants, become Respitality partners by making a gift of a short break for a carer and a companion. The gifts are provided at times that suit the gift provider.
Examples of gifts are an overnight stay, meals, spa days, afternoon teas, days out.
Through recognition events, presentation of certificates and media coverage, Respitality Partners can raise awareness of their business and community involvement as well as reaching new markets.
It is estimated that there are around 788,000 people caring for a relative, friend or neighbour in Scotland. This includes around 44,000 under the age of 18. (Scottish Government, May 2016.) This is a substantial size of market which is there to be won over.
Respitality started in Fife in 2014 and is now live in Midlothian, Lanarkshire, Dundee, Angus, Perth & Kinross, Dumfries & Galloway, Falkirk & Clackmannanshire. 2016 sees the launch of Respitality in Edinburgh and the Lothians. The rest of Scotland is planned.
Around 100 businesses are currently Respitality Partners, helping many carers and a companion have a well-deserved break.
