Climate Change – what it means for your tourism business

3 May 2017 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • This event has passed.

Interface, in partnership with Adaptation Scotland, invite you to this free half day workshop. This event will highlight threats and opportunities from climate change for tourism businesses and destinations in Scotland. Attendees will come away equipped with increased understanding, confidence and partners.

Scotland’s climate is changing and the impacts are already being felt: average temperatures are rising, total rainfall has increased and heavy downpours are becoming more frequent, it is highly likely that sea levels will rise. Therefore, climate change will affect the length and quality of Scottish tourism seasons, tourism opportunities, environmental resources, environmental conditions and tourism decision making.

Come along to this event to represent any type of tourism business you recognise as being affected by climate change. Are you operating a ski-resort, country-park, golf course, historic site, coastal property, nature-based tourism business or running outdoor events or festivals for example?

You will hear about insights, and tools and resources from Sniffer, who deliver the Scottish Government funded Adaptation Scotland programme. Organisations involved in the Sustainable Tourism Group will share their experiences and strategies for adaption to the impacts of climate change. Interface have secured several academic speakers to share research findings, expertise and technologies relevant for the tourism industry.

The plans and investments the tourism industry makes today will determine how we live with climate change in years to come. We hope this workshop will lead to collaborative solutions.
