ETAG is seeking to appoint a new Chair, following Donald Emslie’s decision to stand down after almost six years leading the organisation.
Under Donald’s leadership, ETAG has supported Edinburgh’s visitor economy through the launch of the city’s 2030 Tourism Strategy, the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the introduction of the UK’s first formal visitor levy.
Now, as Edinburgh looks ahead to 2030 and beyond, ETAG is looking for a new Chair to provide leadership and set the tone for a collaborative, robust, open and transparent dialogue across the city’s visitor economy.
The Chair will be an appointed Director of ETAG, leading the Board and upholding its values and standards. Key responsibilities include chairing meetings of the ETAG Board and Full Group, liaising with the ETAG staff on governance and decision-making, and representing ETAG to partners, funders, the media and international delegations.
This is a voluntary, non-remunerated role requiring approximately 20 days per year, with eligible expenses reimbursed. ETAG is looking for someone with a passion for the visitor economy, outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, a reputation for probity and integrity, and experience of strategic leadership in a complex and changing sector. Candidates do not need a tourism background, provided they bring exceptional relevant skills and experience.
