In recent weeks, several initiatives have launched across the city, which will contribute towards Edinburgh’s goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.
Keep Scotland Beautiful have launched Cup Movement in Edinburgh, making recycling sigle-use cups in the city easier by introducing dedicated cup bins on Market Street, Waverley Bridge and outside Haymarket Station.
They have also teamed up with more than 30 retailers including Costa Coffee, Greggs and McDonald’s to launch Take It Back in Edinburgh, an initiative that allows customers to take a single-use cup back to any of the above retailers to be recycled. Please let us know if you’d like to be involved and we can connect you to the project team.
Café 1505 is encouraging customers to switch from single-use cups to its reusable cup, by offering 50% off hot drinks every Monday to customers using the café’s own reusable cup, combining value with a more sustainable choice.
There are various other green initiatives in the pipeline across the city, many of which are being championed by tourism and hospitality businesses. Please do reach out to share your learnings and news with us: theteam@etag.org.uk. We can help connect you with other businesses and organisations on the same journey.
