Edinburgh’s Independent Tourist Information Centre celebrates 1 year

Source Edinburgh, the city’s independent tourist information centre, based within the French Institute of Scotland just off the Royal Mile, has celebrated 1 year (1 May 2025) since opening its doors to welcome and support visitors.

The team have welcomed over 30,000+ visitors in the first 12 months, and through their ticket sales service they have generated £65,000+ sales for local partners, with best sellers being underground tours, 1-day excursions, and walking tours of the city.

The craft shop, showcasing independent Scotland-based makers, has generated increased recognition and additional sales for local makers.

The small team have been operating 6-days a week in the summer and 5-days a week in winter, and next season they are aiming to open 7 days, expand their team and grow footfall by 50% in their second season and increase ticket sales for partners.

They have recently become registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) – a special type of limited company designed for social enterprises that use their profits and assets for public good rather than private profit.

The team are looking to make connections with Edinburgh tourism businesses who are interested in their ticket sales service.

Please help spread the word about the city’s independent visitor information centre by informing your visitors of their central location, and highlighting their information and ticket provision services all under the one roof.
