Highland Centre Ltd. (HCL), which trades in Ingliston, Edinburgh, as The Royal Highland Centre, Scotland’s largest indoor and outdoor events venue, has appointed four non-executive directors, reinforcing its ambition to grow the centre’s offer and build on its reputation as one of Scotland’s most versatile music and events venues.
The newly appointed non-executive directors bring a wide range of expertise spanning major live events, venue management, commercial strategy, and large-scale programme delivery for the likes of Formula E and the 2012 Olympics. Their leadership experience cuts across nationally recognised exhibitions, conferences, cultural events, and destination venues, including Wembley Stadium and the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow.
The new non-executive directors are:
● Roger Hooker, Owner, Hooked On Events
● David Laing, previously Head of Arts, Music and Cultural Venues for Glasgow Life
● Graeme Davies, Managing Director of UXL Marketing & Consulting Ltd.
● Robin Miller, previously Head of Conference Sales for the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (now the Scottish Event Campus)
The non-executive members will work alongside HCL’s board to support the long-term strategy, commercial growth, and operational excellence of the Royal Highland Centre.
The appointments are part of the RHASS Group’s governance changes, which were introduced in July 2025, and come at a pivotal time for HCL as it continues to invest in its facilities, broaden its event portfolio, and strengthen its role as a leading events venue in Scotland.
As part of the changes, the Director of Venue, Mark Currie, has been appointed Managing Director of HCL to champion the centre’s commercial focus and pursue opportunities to diversify and grow revenue streams.
Mark Currie, Managing Director for Highland Centre Limited, said: “Being able to welcome such a high-calibre group of non-executive directors to our board is a huge step forward for us as a venue as we set our sights to expand the venue’s offer and continue our reputation as one of Scotland’s most versatile music and events venues.
“Together, Roger, David, Graeme and Robin bring unparalleled experience in national events, along with strategic insight that is second to none. Their advice and guidance will be instrumental as we accelerate our growth plans and brand positioning.”
The appointments come as Royal Highland Centre tees up for a busy 2026, with headline shows confirmed for Biffy Clyro, Lorde, Florence and the Machine, The Cure, The Prodigy and Deftones as part of Edinburgh’s Summer Sessions. The venue will also host Heather on the Hill, a new festival created by Nathan Evans & The Saint Phnx Band.
