Issued on behalf of the Scottish Tourism Alliance
The draft of Scotland’s future national tourism strategy has unlike Tourism Scotland 2020 (TS2020) been developed through an equal partnership approach with a range of stakeholders from industry, Scottish Government and our public agencies.
It is reflective of the changing world we live in, our new mindset and approach to how we live and work and represents a bold step forward in setting our industry on a path to delivering benefits to those who visit us, Scotland’s people, the communities within our destinations, local economies, our wider economy and indeed, all of our sectors.
At the beginning of October this draft was shared with around 450 industry delegates at the STA Annual Autumn Conference in Edinburgh.
The draft vision, mission and the four key priority areas was revealed by Marc Crothall, Chair of the Strategy Steering Group.
The vision – Scotland. We will be the world leader in 21st century tourism.
The mission – Together we will grow the value and positively enhance the benefits of tourism across Scotland by delivering the very best for our visitors, our businesses, our people, our communities and our environment.
Key priorities – Our passionate people, our thriving places, our diverse businesses, our memorable experiences. Each with a key aim, and set of outcomes.
After the reveal, initial thoughts and opinions from delegates were captured through facilitated round table discussions and an online survey.
We understand that not everyone could make it along to the conference, so we recorded the announcement so that everyone with an interest in tourism has the opportunity to feed into the development of the future strategy.
