Edinburgh City Wifi Update

Filed under:

intechnologyWiFi has been back on the streets since September, working to progress the installation of the city centre WiFi network, following the end of the busy summer festival season.

Over 40% of the installations are now complete, with testing and optimisation of the network progressing well. We have temporarily taken the network offline, to complete vital updates, but this will only be for a short time and the network will be back on-line in the near future. The ‘go-live’ of the network will be carried out in phases (see map). As each phase is thoroughly tested and made live and we will keep you up to date with this.

Users are still able to access the Wi-Fi on the upper sections of the Royal Mile from Lawn Market to the High Street (the pink section on the map) – this area will be the first to undergo final testing. A formal, public launch of the service will follow the completion of all installation phases later in the year.

intechnologyWiFi and The City of Edinburgh Council want to thank residents and visitors for their patience during the installation period.
