Next year will build on the momentum generated by the current 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design as well as previous years including Homecoming Scotland 2014 and the Year of Food and Drink in 2015. Although it may feel far away, 2017 will be here before you know it – so before it arrives there are a few things you should know!
EventScotland’s Signature Event Fund – there is already a great array of events celebrating history, heritage and archaeology which will form part of the calendar of activity for 2017. However to add to this there is a dedicated 2017 History, Heritage and Archaeology Signature Event fund which has been designed to support both new and existing events with additional elements celebrating one of more of the three themes. Events should be high profile and support the objectives of the year which include promoting Scotland, celebrating our achievements, encouraging significant participation and engagement and boosting both local and national tourism.
The fund is now open and receiving applications from the events and festivals sector across Scotland. Events interested in applying for support should first familiarise themselves with the Guidance Note and Criteria document below. The fund will accept applications for grants from £20,000 up to a maximum of £60,000.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on Friday 29th July 2016 – to apply you must contact EventScotland on 0131 472 2278 or at information@eventscotland.org to discuss your proposal in advance of preparing an application
VisitScotland has also put together a toolkit for all things History, Heritage and Archaeology. It includes ideas around marketing, the logo to download and use in your comms, information around the #HHA2017 campaign and an ancestral toolkit where you can find out how to target tourists interested in their ancestry. Check out the VisitScotland toolkit here and we will see you in 2017!
