Edinburgh Tourism Action Group is a non-profit making unincorporated association whose overall aim is to make Edinburgh one of Europe’s premier capital city destinations, by offering visitors a first class tourism experience.
ETAG’s main objectives are to:
ETAG is administered by a core group of seven representative Steering Group members from across Edinburgh’s public and private sector tourism industry. Under the terms of ETAG’s Constitution the Chair and Vice Chair will always be selected from the private sector. This Steering Group, together with around 30 individual members, forms the ETAG Full Group, within which there are three working groups developing strategy under the headings of Sustainability, Waterfront and Skills.
The ETAG Full Group agrees the annual ETAG Action Plan developing specific projects to help deliver tourism growth. Each project is led by a private sector Project Champion.
ETAG has also produced a strategic Framework for Growth for 2007-15. This shared framework will shape our city, our businesses and our people and continue to make Edinburgh a vibrant destination to visit in a globally competitive marketplace. In it you will find useful information to help Edinburgh’s tourism businesses to make informed decisions and to understand the strategic priorities of the public sector, and how they impact on tourism in Edinburgh.
You can download the 2009-10 ETAG Action Plan (also known as the Resilience Plan) here or from our Knowledge section. A December 2008 update of progress on projects featured in the previous Action Plan (2008-9) is also available here.
The tourism sector in Edinburgh is made up of some 3000 businesses, many of which are represented by collaborative industry groups and associations. In turn these Edinburgh groups are represented within the ETAG membership on the ETAG Full Group.
An ETAG Annual Conference is also held in the spring of each year, with speakers and workshop events held around a specific theme. Attendance is open to all businesses and organisations with an interest in tourism in Edinburgh. A small fee is chargeable for attendance.
